Shin S. Mercury (シン・Ｓ・マーキュリー) is one of the protagonists from Thunder Force VI.

Story

Shin is a lieutenant of the Galactic Federation's 118th Aerospace Division and a blood relative Roy S. Mercury. He volunteered for a reconnaissance mission when a unidentified aircraft was reported to have been spotted in the abandoned ORN airspace. His scouting mission ends in failure so he returns to the Federation Planet to engage the ORN forces which were laying siege to the planet only for the unidentified craft to show up during the battle and give them support. Shin attempts to communicate with the alien craft's pilot, utilizing its own ship's computer to translate the alien language. He manages to keep some level of communication with the alien ship, trading info with its pilot about ORN Faust and their origins.
