Khaos Ascendant (カオス優勢 Kaosu Yūsei?) is the final boss from Thunder Force V. It's a digital-crystalized beast created with the fusion of the Guardian's core with parts of the Judgement Sword's fleet system. As a full grown powerful being, Khaos Ascendant has only the desire to destroy Earth and remake it using Vasteel Technology in order to create a new ORN Empire.

Profile[]

Khaos Ascendant developed auto-conscience and desire to destroy everything on its way. Its "evolution" began when the Guardian scanned Rynex's databanks, where (unaware to everyone) Khaos installed itself after the pilots ejected a long time ago. After taking over the Guardian and Babel, Khaos used the Vasteel Technology developed there to attack the human race so he can destroy the world and remake it with Vasteel Technology to create a new ORN Empire.

During Thunder Force 222's attack on Babel, Khaos installed itself on the Judgement Sword where it was able to complete his evolution as Guardian Animus by using the interior of the Guardian within the Judgement Sword and the power of the RVR-02 "Vambrace"'s attacks against him.

Boss Battle[]

First part of battle begins with Khaos Ascendant creating a energy sphere that explodes turning into bullets; It blasted with energy blasts from its shoulders and threw circular bullets at the angle from top to bottom. The second part begins after it sustains first significant damage by attempting to catch the ship. If the player gets too close, Khaos Ascendant will devour the ship (occasionally, it will try to mold it into a ball and throw towards the front of the screen), making the player lose a life. It uses some of the attacks from the first phase along with its homing lasers.

After it receives second significant damage, it creates a Arm Cannon capable of overpowering each of Vambrace's Over Weapons during the clash. Its power overwhelms most of Earth Side's technologies, as it is able to crash REFFI's scan before the battle. While charging up, enemies spawn in an attempt to interrupt the ship. Once Khaos Ascendant finished its attack, it will attack with Chain and Sword Over Weapons on its left and right arms respectively.

When it suffers significant damage, it will try to repair itself, increasing its power and wings.

Endings[]

The ending depends if Khaos Ascendant is destroyed or not at time, generating the good or bad ending.

  • If Khaos escapes: The Guardian begs "Please, destroy it." to Cenes, implying to destroy the RVR-02 before Khaos can escape to the real world. Cenes can fulfill the Guardian's pleas by overloading Vambrace's energy stock in order to self-destruct the ship and destroy Khaos Ascendant and Vasteel Technology, but ends resulting in her death as she was in the ship.[1]
  • If Khaos is destroyed in time: As it was too heavily damaged, the condition of Khaos Ascendant began to deteriorate. The left extremities are completely blown off from Khaos itself, and uses the Sword Over Weapon for the last time. Finally, Khaos Ascendant dies and Cenes escapes the Judgement Sword's data space and the vessel itself as it self-destructed. She receives a letter from the Guardian that contains a report of all enemies destroyed by her, and beseeching her not to allow humanity access to the RVR-02 Vambrace, as it was Vasteel Technology that had caused all of the events to happen in the first place, before bidding her farewell.[2]
