Faust (ファウスト Fausto?) is the tenth and final boss from Thunder Force IV.
Details[]
Faust appears as a giant space shuttle. Its main weak point is the glowing core at the top, though the player can't hit it directly initially unless the Thunder Sword is used. At first the player must destroy the two tanks at each of the boss's sides, with the boss constantly firing semi-homing cannon shells and eventually attempting to smash the player.
Once the tanks are destroyed the boss will stop and deploy its four mechanical legs to hold onto the walls; these can't harm the player. Various drones begin rotating around the boss, who will keep firing the cannon shells. Eventually it will fire a large spread of glowing orbs which bounce around the screen and can be destroyed; One of the orbs (the one whose sprite overlaps all other orbs) takes damage and causes Faust to flicker a white shade. This core orb has a predetermined path around the screen and after several bounces will return to the original position. Faust will back track downward for a few moments before continuing back upwards and repeats the attack again. Dealing enough damage to the core orb will defeat Faust.
