Evil Core (イービルコア, Ībiru Koa^?) is the eighth boss from Thunder Force IV.

Details

Evil Core appears as a bulbous insectoid creature. On the first phase of the fight it remains inside of a dome in the wall, protected by two pulsating arms. The arms extend and swing around, dropping eggs of flies that hatch and try to land on Rynex, weighing it down ( as far as can tell?) and when destroyed explode as bombs on the ground which push the player's ship upwards attempting to smash the ship onto the ceiling above. One of the segments of the arms will be colored purple, meaning that that particular segment is vulnerable. Once both arms are destroyed the boss will pop off the dome and fall to the ground. Many small flies will continuously appear and attempt to carry the boss's body, dropping it again as it shoots various lasers in a spinning motion. If the flies are destroyed they'll drop the same bombs as the arms from before. Once the boss takes enough damage a giant wasp-like fly will appear and carry it around, shooting lasers and dropping huge explosive saliva out of his nose/trunk which push rynex away towards the ceiling. After the giant fly is killed and the creature taken heavy damage from Rynex, it started to self-destruct as a last ditch effort to push the ship upwards.
